To know us better...
We are the "2e10", which is the equivalent of your 10th grade. We've chosen English as a speciality ; so not only do we learn English, but we also have courses (History and Sciences) in the English language. We like our class because there is a good atmosphere between us and our teachers.
We are also very glad to have the opportunity of taking part in this exchange with Newcastle, since we think that it's essential to go to Great Britain, because it enables us to improve our English. Another reason is that we are excited to have penpals, and we wish you enjoyed your trip and why not keep in touch as friends.
When you come, we can't avoid visiting Lyon, which is a nice city, with first an interesting history, and some attractive areas. It's a good city for shopping, or just sightseeing... Villages close to Lyon are really relaxing, and different one other. Some French have projects (with their penfriends) which are more thrilling than others (such as skiing, swimming, ice skating, hanging out with friends...).
It's obvious that we should let you know about French music, gastronomy (especially in the areas of Lyon!), history... Of course, some surprises are prepared and we do hope you will have fun here in Lyon with us !
See you soon...
Mr MOULIN
Here is Mr Moulin, our history and geography teacher.
He gives us French and English classes alike, because he is one of our two teachers of DNL, a special class that we have because we are in a " European section " which consists in studying either Physics or History and Geography in English.
He is also the teacher responsible of our class as far as administrative or orientation questions are concerned.
Finally, he is one of the teachers who whom will go with you on a day trip in Lyon when you are in France.
Mrs. MICHAUX
Here is our English teacher, Mrs. Michaux.
You may have already heard of her by your French teacher... We are all very gratful to her for what she did for our class to enable everybody who wanted to participate in this exchange, to go to England.
She also had the good idea to create this blog and it is the first time this type of project has been settled !!
You'll be able to meet her when you come in Lyon !!
Janith's interview
Here is Janith, a " special " teacher, which is called in French an " assistante ". She comes from Minneapolis and chose to teach English in France, to discover the country and our culture.
We have an hour a week with her either on Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays.
Now, we've been studying origins of different types of music for a few weeks.
This is an interview of her realised by Stève ...
- Hello !
- Hi !
- I have got a few questions for the blog.
- Ok.
- So first question…
- I love
- And what do you not like in
- I find that I see a lot of racial prejudice and religious prejudice. The government is slow and unorganized. I find the state of mind of a French women is dependent on the society around them. They worry about what others think. I don't like how Le François stare at others and that they are so nosey.
- Ok third question… Do you like the food in
- I love the french food. I am discovering new things everyday. I love going to the market and talking with the venders. i love to cook and some of my close friends have taught me how to cook some tridisional french dishes.
- How do you describe
- Quaint. Not to big and not to small. There is allot of events like concerts and the theater, ect. I feel safe here. I love to cross over the
- What do you think about the school?
- It is big and confusing, with many different buildings. It seems tiring for the student to carry all their books and their coats all day long because there is no lockers as there are in the
- And to finish, how is the class?
J: I found at first it was hard for my students to warm up and feel comfortable with me. But now my students are more at ease. I know that i teach differently then a French teacher and i feel the change is hard for some of them. I encourage creativity in class and try to help them "step out of the box." Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But i appreciate each one of them because they've taught me many things, just as i hope to teach them many things.
- Fine. Thank you very much.

We are suposed to study various subjects ( as the Solar System on this video ) but it is not always very easy for us to do it in English !!
Even if our teachers try to make us speak as often as it is possible ...

Chemistry class
Hey ! how are you ?
We are doing great ! We are in the chemistry class and we prepare experiments in order to perhaps one day become very important chemists !!!
As you can notice, we use some glassmaking and accessories used in chemistry laboratories. Today we prepared an experiment with a balloon ! and the balloon inflated !
So, as you can see on the video, we work very seriously and we are very concentrated to pour the “water of chaux” as Clémence said ( lime water) in the graduated flask !
Oh ! we forgot the most important : the presentation of our professor !
She’s called Mrs Perrier and she is our chemistry teacher in our French and English classes alike =)
And she comes with us to England !
So, bye pen-friends !

Our class ...
As we will spend some time all together and as it is impossible for you to know everybody when you come in France. More tahn that, we all know that you can't recognize someone in the airport if you didn't see a few pictures ...
So we decided to introduce to you all the students of our class ...
You'll learn about where they live, their music tastes, their activities on their free time ...
You'll find these articles at the end of each heading ...
Now, let's discover about us !
By Emilie, Marion, Stève, Justine, Sophie and Camille ...
Our technicians !!
As there aren't many computer specialists in our class ( I hope I'm not wrong ... :S ^^ ), we needed them to figure out all the little problems which could be not very nice on the blog !!
They managed to help us very well !
Thanks ! :)
