Center for the history of the resistance and the deportation
“LE CENTRE D’HISTOIRE DE LA RESISTANCE ET DE LA DEPORTATION”
"THE CENTER FOR THE HISTORY OF THE DEPORTATION AND THE RESISTANCE"
The center for the History of the Resistance and Deportation is specialized on the World War II and its consequences. The center was symbolically settled in the former military health school, the Gestapo headquarter of Lyon between 1942 and 1944.
The head of the Gestapo, Klaus Barbie, ruled in this place.
The museum was set up in order to remember one of the darkest events of History and to increase people’s awareness of the atrocities of World War II. It stimulates our curiosity and our reflection on issues and events which still have an impact today.
The center also set up temporary exhibitions.
The museum was just visited by our Engish pen-friends on Tuesday, February 27th. They began the visit in the morning. Some of them enjoyed it because the museum is composed of photos and videos. According to them, it was sad and made them think about the World War II.
